Joseph Cyril Bamford launched the construction and agricultural equipment manufacturing company that bears his initials, in 1945. He began his business in a garage that measured 12 feet by 15 feet.
Today, JCB's world headquarters is one of the finest engineering factories in Europe. The company that began as a ‘one man band' now employs over 5,000 people and produces over 180 different models on 4 different continents – with bases in the UK, the USA, India and South America. Of course, it's no use producing unique products if they don't meet the customers' needs. In our business, an innovative and efficient machine needs an innovative and efficient support system.
JCB is a truly international business offering local support via a 24 hour parts back-up facility and complete after-sales care. Our high quality, cost efficient machines offer low downtime and real peace of mind.

Scarab Sweepers

The first Scarabs the MKII quickly gained the young company a reputation for innovation and versatility. By 1984 the Minor, was in production, mounted on the versatile Multicar chassis. It was to prove a resounding success. By the end of the decade, the chassis was 'all Scarab' and the Minor started to excel. Scarab's familiar evolutionary process was firmly in evidence and in 1992, the hydrostatic Minormade its debut, establishing a policy of continuous development that can be traced directly to the current model, the VM Minor.

By 1988 the first of the single-engine range the well-known Major Hydrostatic truck-mounted machines were leaving the factory, by now the Scarab name had firmly made its mark and the single-engine design truly changed the way the world looked at truckmount sweepers, in the early 90`s we pushed the Single-engine design even further by producing the Scarab Maxim Unidrive range and the deceptively capacious Monic with its unique Omni-drive system, proving that Scarab's flair for innovation was as strong as ever.

As the century turned, 22 years after the Scarab story began, the Scarab Merlin andMagnum truckmounts, natural successors to the Scarab Major and Maxim range , started rolling off the production lines, bringing to bear the combined experience of Rodger Hoadley, his design engineers and Scarab users from around the world.
